Happy Gluttony Day!

Thanksgiving (don't call it 'turkey day', please) must be one of the best all-time holidays. It's mostly an entire day centered around eating as much food as possible. And if you forget about the Native Americans (which, historically, has shown to be pretty easy), it's all guilt free! It's like the national holiday of American obesity.

Based solely on the amount of bagels and cream cheese I ate before noon today, I've consumed nearly 200% of the recommended daily value of saturated fat. And yet, come 5pm, I'll be encouraged to eat thousands of calories worth of the most delicious dinner prepared all year. It's going to be great.

The real news.

So Obama won, as many of us knew he would. But when exactly did we know? When did he and Biden really clinch the victory?

The most die-hard McCainians might delude themselves into thinking we didn't actually know until Obama won Florida. Some would say it was a sure thing once InTrade gave the Obama/Biden ticket a 90% chance over McCain/Palin on the day before the election. Some clear-sighted pundits called it weeks ago when the economy was in a nosedive and people were scrambling away from the GOP like rats leaving a sinking ship.

When did I know they were surefire election winners? I'll tell you - 30 years ago:

Damn, I hope America is ready for 8 years of this much pimp.
